Grab Your Wallet

I can’t believe it’s come down to this but I fully support our combined efforts to do the right thing to honour our individual beliefs regarding ethics, values, and integrity. Without them, we are nothing. Click here to learn more. Recommend clicking on the link to read the table easier … you’ll have to click around to find it. Plus I’m sure some of the retailers will eventually join the movement as we start to vote using our dollar/purchasing power.

Sample of what to say: “Hi. I’m a customer of [Store Name]. Unfortunately I can no longer do business with your company because it does business with the Trump family. If your company were to no longer do business with the Trump family I would enthusiastically return as a customer. Please communicate my feedback to management.

Here’s what I said to a rep who said “Well, we don’t carry Donald’s products”: “Because Ivanka campaigned for Donald, was a member of his transition team, and may benefit financially from her father’s policies, I feel her brand has been politicized.”

#GrabYourWallet Action Guide
2
The goal of the #GrabYourWallet boycott is to motivate companies stop doing business with the Trump family. This is so we can return as customers as quickly as possible! Here are some ways you can make that happen.
3
1: Send an email to customer service.
4
Retail experts recommend sending an email over making a phone call because emails can easily be forwarded to management. Many people choose to start with this sample wording, then customize from there.

Here’s a sample of what to say: “Hi. I’m a longtime customer / fan of your company. Unfortunately I’ll no longer be able to do business with you because you do business with the Trump family. If you were to no longer do so I would enthusiastically return as a customer. Please communicate my feedback to management. // Here’s what I said to a rep who said “Well, we don’t carry Donald’s products”: “Because Ivanka campaigned for Donald, was a member of his transition team, and may benefit financially from her father’s policies, I feel her brand has been politicized.”

7
2: Send an email to the company’s PR team.
8
Remember, the “p” in PR stands for public and you’re the public, so make yourself heard! In addition to the customer service email contact info, the boycott lists also provides email contact info for each company’s PR team. PR teams are typically quite savvy about branding and reputation, so this can be a very effective strategy.
9
10
4: Fill out the company’s third party feedback form.
11
Retail experts advise that the customer feedback retailers receive from third party data collectors is very influential over their decisions, so if you’re getting in touch with a big retailer, use this to your advantage!
12
Not all of the companies on the list will have this option, but if they do, there’s typically a link at the very bottom of the main web page that says something like “give us feedback.”
13
14
5: Call the companies on the list.
15
Start with the companies with which you have a genuine connection as a customer and move on from there if you choose. If you can only contact a few companies on the list, that’s fine! If you’re not prepared to boycott a company, but would just like to express your concern, that’s great too. The professionals with whom you speak tend to be very polite and receptive when receiving such calls. Your call is most effective when you use a polite tone too. Don’t worry that you’re being confrontational by calling them. As long as you keep your tone respectful, calls tend to be quick & pleasant.

17
6 – Use social media to address the companies on the list.
18
Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram are the three most popular ways to reach out to companies on social media. Be sure to tag in the company’s name using the @ sign, so they see it. Use the #GrabYourWallet hashtag for possible retweeting! Sample Tweet 1: I love shopping with you @Amazon but can’t do so until you drop Trump products. #GrabYourWallet
19
Sample Tweet 2: Will return to being a dedicated @LLBean customer just as soon as their Trump-backing board members are gone. #GrabYourWallet
