Silver Lake residents debate reservoir’s — and neighborhood’s — future

In my opinion water and food should be the primary drivers for decisions around this eye sore. I don’t know why its so hard to figure out what is needed versus what is wanted. The reservoir was drained a year ago as part of a project by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power to build a 4,600-foot bypass pipeline connecting a new underground reservoir north of Griffith Park to the city’s water distribution system. The new reservoir had to be built after federal regulations went into effect mandating that all drinking-water supplies be stored underground to avoid contamination.
